I Love Lucy

Lucy complains that Ricky spends so little time with his son that the boy hardly knows him. Agreeing, Ricky changes his vacation plans so he can spend all his time with Little Ricky.

In one brilliant scene that runs nearly five minutes, Ricky recites "Little Red Riding Hood" in Spanish. The child joins his father for breakfast, "a Spanish omelet with green peppers, green onions, and mushrooms", allowing Lucy a few extra hours of sleep, which is interrupted when she overhears the menu.

Bored with nothing to do, Lucy decides to go shopping with Ethel, until she sees Little Ricky wandering around in the hallway by himself. Ricky and Fred have been so involved in a TV football game, they hadn't noticed him wander off.

To teach Ricky a lesson, Lucy phones her husband and nonchalantly asks about Little Ricky. Panic sets in when the father realizes his son is missing. After a well-timed series of "baby-snatchings," the segment ends with Little Ricky safely in his crib.

Special Notes: This show was filmed without a studio audience since the company was afraid the babies would not be able to perform on cue. Fred and Ethel mention they are married twenty-three years in this show; in "The Courtroom" episode, aired a year earlier, they are married twenty-five years. And a year before that, they were celebrating their eighteenth wedding anniversary at the fights!

Bloopers: As Ricky's telling Little Ricky the story of "Little Red Riding Hood" in Spanish, the shot of the baby listening shows that on his pillow are the cartoon versions of Lucy and Desi, from the shows original CBS opening clip. In the final scene, Lucy walks out of Ethel's apartment wearing a pair of slingback shoes. When she enters her apartment, she is wearing ankle-strap shoes instead.
