I Love Lucy

When Lucy begins to notice the widening separation of interests between Ricky and herself, she decides to develop an interest in the sports pages of the newspaper in hopes of striking a mutual bond. With unknowing disgust, Lucy comments on an item: "They're a racing little girls at Churchill Downs. First race won by a three-year old."

A summer camping trip is in the offing and Lucy itches to tag along. Fred: "If Lucy goes, Ethel will want to go, and I can be miserable at home." The men hatch the perfect scheme: Ricky will take Lucy on a weekend "trial run" and make life in the woods so rough on her, she won't want to join them for the summer trip.

Ethel overhears the dastardly doings and informs Lucy, who puts together her own bag of tricks. On the overnighter, Lucy manages, with an assist from Ethel, to outfish, outhunt, and out-everything her husband. All goes smoothly until she challenges her outdoorsman hubby to a round of duck hunting, even though Ricky insists there are no ducks within a hundred miles of their campsite.

According to plan, Ethel, perched high in a nearby tree throws down a dead "duck" after Lucy fires her rifle. When Ricky retrieves the butcher-shop acquired hen, he comments: "Pretty good shooting. Not only did you kill the duck, but you knocked off its feathers, and cleaned it too!"

Finally, Lucy tells her handsome husband that she really doesn't want to share everything with him, just a kiss.

Special Notes: Ethel can drive in this episode, but the next season when the Ricardos and Mertzes go to California, she says she never learned to drive. This episode is based on lucy's radio show, My Favorite Husband, Episode #93, "Be a Pal".
