I Love Lucy

It's anniversary time again and, alas, Ricky has forgotten the exact date. He even goes so far as to wire the hall of records in Greenwich, Connecticut, where he and Lucy were married fifteen years ago.

Lucy makes a big issue of his forgetfulness, and this tips off an argument. As his only defense, Ricky insists he's already arranged a big party at the Mocambo nightclub, which was supposed to be a surprise.

Now, much to his astonishment, an item in a gossip column appears, bearing out his party "plans" and mentioning a long list of invited, celebrity guests. Lucy sees the newspaper piece and forgives Ricky. But when a telegram from the Greenwich country clerk arrives, containing the Ricardos' exact wedding date, Lucy flies into a rage and refuses to speak to Ricky. She'll go to the Mocambo that night, but not with Ricky.

She presses Bobby the bellboy into service as her escort, but when they arrive at the nightspot, they are seated at a separate table away from the Ricardo anniversary celebration. Lucy softens when Ricky pays her a compliment and sings "Anniversary Waltz".

Special Notes: This episode was inspired by a true-life incident that happened on November 30, 1953, when Desi surprised Lucille with a thirteenth anniversary party at Mocambo.

Bloopers: In Episode #38, "The Anniversary Present", the Ricardos' anniversary is on the 19th but in this episode it is on the 7th. Ricky gives his full name in this episode to Western Union as Ricardo Alberto Fernando Ricardo y Acha but in episode #179, "Lucy Raises Tulips", Lucy gives his first name as Enrique.
