Lucy and Viv Put in a Shower

The Lucy Show

Tired of Chris hogging the bathroom all the time, Lucy asks Harry to install an extra shower for them. Although she can't afford to install an extra bathroom, Lucy decides that an extra shower is needed to meet the needs of five people.

After Harry promises to do the bathroom himself, he gets out of the installation job and hires a plumber to do the chore instead, telling Lucy it is free.

Lucy is such a persistent meddler that the plumber quits the job. Lucy and Viv decide to finish the job themselves. The women begin to panic when they get trapped in the glass stall with the water rising, and they can't turn the faucet off.

Special Notes: The final scene (with the girls stuck in the shower as the water continually rises) was almost a physical disaster for Lucille. When she went down to the bottom of the shower, she couldn't get back up again. Viv realized she was in trouble, and pulled her up by the roots of her hair. She then began ad-libbing, doing all of the dialog, including Lucille's lines so that Lucille could catch a breath. The distressed look on Lucille's face was real. The near-disastrous moment was left in the episode and is widely considered the funniest of the show. This episode is a classic, ranking almost anything Lucille had done in the past.
