Six months' pregnant, Lucy is given a "surprise" baby shower by five members of the Wednesday Afternoon Fine Arts League. It later dawns on Lucy that Ricky has become jealous of the baby because all the attention is concentrated on her and the upcoming blessed event.
When Ricky starts complaining of nausea, dizzy spells, and pains in his stomach, Lucy consults Dr. Rabwin, who diagnoses the problem as "morning sickness." Assuring Lucy that her husband's ailment is merely psychosomatic, the doc suggests she make him the "center of attention" for a while.
Ethel suggests a baby shower for Ricky. Lucy changes the idea to a "daddy shower", whereupon Fred turns it into a stag party. A little apprehensive about the turn of events, Lucy decides to crash the daddy shower/stag party disguised as a newspaper reporter with Ethel posing as her photographer partner.
"Pete" and "Sam" of the New York Herald Times Tribune, arrive at the party that is attended by many of Ricky's friends, including Jerry, his agent. It doesn't take long for the guest of honor to realize the intrusion by the girls, and the party comes to an abrupt halt. In the final scene, pregnant Lucy enjoys a late night snack of pistachio ice cream covered with hot fudge and sardines.
Special Notes: The sardines Lucy eats were real, but she really had them with mashed potatoes and gravy, not ice cream and chocolate sauce.
Bloopers: In this episode, Lucy is reading a McCall's magazine. There is a large picture of a baby on the cover and the caption next to the picture clearly reads I Love Lucy.
