I Love Lucy

After Lucy volunteers Ricky's musical services for a Westport Historical Society benefit without consulting him first, he refuses to participate. But Lucy's promised an appearance by Ricky Ricardo and she intends to carry through. Ricky Ricardo, Jr., will be the stellar attraction.

She decides to organize her own little orchestra with her son on the drums, Ethel at the piano, Lucy tooting her saxophone, and Fred playing his fiddle. Ethel: "The last time he played was three chins ago."

Their first rehearsal is a disaster; Ethel knows only one song, "She'll Be Comin' Round the Mountain," and Lucy knows only one, "Sweet Sue." When Ricky agrees to listen to the ensemble and give his honest opinion of their talents, he decides to save his reputation as an orchestra leader by lending the combo some of his own musicians.

At the benefit, Ricky sings "Man Smart, Woman Smarter" while the others support him with calypso-flavored sounds.

Special Notes: Lucy claimed to know only one song, "Sweet Sue" but what about "The Glow Worm" from episode #37, "The Saxophone." Ethel states that she never learned to play "Sweet Sue" on the piano. In episode #18, "Breaking The Lease," the opening scene has the Ricardos and the Mertzes singing "Sweet Sue" together with Ethel at the piano.

Bloopers: When Ricky returns home, the grandfather clock still says 12 noon because someone did not reset the clock.
