I Love Lucy

Ricky wants his son to attend nursery school, but Lucy doesn't share his scholarly enthusiasm. After reading from Dr. Spock's book, "Nursery school does not take the place of home", Lucy thinks the subject is closed. Ricky reads on: "...it adds to it. It is particularly valuable for the only child, for the child without much chance to play with others, for the child who lives in a small apartment."

Ricky believes Spock's baby-care bible. Lucy: "What does he know? He was never a mother!" However, Ricky prevails and the boy is sent off to nursery school.

He enjoys the experience, and all the adults seem pleased, until young Ricky develops a cold. Lucy blames the school: "It's a hotbed of bacteria!" The child's pediatrician, Dr. Gettleman, diagnoses the problem as tonsillitis and suggests a tonsillectomy.

When Lucy learns she is not permitted to spend the night with Little Ricky in his hospital room, she disguises herself as a nurse and creates untold hospital havoc. Ricky comes looking for his wife and finds her curled up in Little Ricky's hospital crib, fast asleep.

Special Notes: Little Ricky's hospital room number in this episode is 602.
