Longtime pal Viv, now named Vivian Bunson since her marriage, finally makes her first visit to California to see former roommate Lucy. Lucy and Viv begin to gossip and making up for lost time about old acquaintances, and Viv reveals that Herbie Watson, son of old friends back in Danfield, is now an unwashed hippie, now sporting long-hair, a guitar and a clock earring, hanging out on the Sunset Strip.

Lucy and Viv scheme to get him back into his fomer, conventional lifestyle. The two decide to dress up as hippies and set off to Sunset Strip to find "Itchy" to rescue him from the underworld. Lucy and Viv quickly find themselves in The Hairy Ape, where they finally find Itchy entertaining – after they spend the evening having to dance with the hip crowd.

Special Notes: This is Vivian Vance's first appreanance on the show since episode #84 aired, "Lucy the Disk Jockey" when she quit at the end of Season 3. Whatever differences there were between the two had been settled, and Lucille and Vivian resume a friendship that is actually healthier than it had been before when she was a regular on the show.
